Altro Stronghold 30 meets high standards for food charity

Altro Stronghold 30

Every year, two million Australians will experience hunger. But, over the same period, we’ll also waste 200kg of food for every man, woman and child in the nation.

This doesn’t make any sense. Melbourne food charity FareShare is doing something about it by rescuing surplus, quality food from supermarkets, farmers and other businesses.

With the help of 800 regular volunteers, FareShare cooks this food into 25,000 free nutritious meals a week for Victorian charities – such as soup vans, homeless shelters, food banks and school breakfast programs. They do this in Australia’s largest charity kitchen based in Abbotsford.

In 2013 the Altro floors were installed and still look as good as they did the day they went in.

A key criteria for FareShare was to have a floor that met with high occupational health and safety standards to keep staff and volunteers safe from slips and trips.

Altro Stronghold 30 achieves Altro’s highest rating for slip resistance (R12 or P5) and is designed to minimise risk in wet and greasy conditions for the lifetime of the flooring. As well as helping to keep staff safe from slips, it also helps reduce their fatigue, thanks to its 3mm thickness which provides noise reduction and comfort underfoot.
