Mental health solutions

We understand not only what helps create a calming and soothing environment, but also the legal requirements healthcare environments must comply to.

Health and Safety at Work Act 1974

Staff and service user safety is a crucial design consideration.  At Altro as part of our consultation we involve staff and service users, to help create an environment that meets their needs and keeps them safe.

Equality Act 2010

The requirements of the Equality Act 2010 and the Public Sector Equality Duty present issues regarding potential ligature points. Consideration should be given to the use of fittings that can be removed to a safe store when not required, provided always that the remaining fixed points do not offer any ligature or self-harm potential.

Any part of the built environment that allows dismantling through picking can provide a means for service users to harm themselves or others. Vulnerable areas include tiles, grout, woven carpet backing, door components and welds.  Altro floors and walls can be hot welded, creating a sealed solution.  Bespoke resin options are also available for a seamless environment.

Wall to floor detailing and coving

We pride ourselves in the level of assistance we can provide specifiers to help deliver a safe and hygienic environment. Correct wall to floor detailing is essential. Design can compensate for service user confusion between wall / floor finishes to enhance wellbeing.

Altro solutions can create an impervious, fully sealed room that is easy to clean and maintain, is impact resistant, and meets the clinical needs of a facility without compromising on safety or aesthetics.

If you do not find the exact vinyl flooring or wall cladding that you require, please call us to discuss your options for a bespoke solution.
